Training groups of 16 skaters are currently “Team Berlin Mini’s”. Under the direction of coach Gert Hofmann the girls train three times a week, a total of five to eight hours. The training includes skating skills, step technique both on and off the ice, ballet, athletics and stamina. The children aged 6-10 have the opportunity to train and later participate in competitions. Throughout their training the skaters steadily build the foundations of skating as well as the basis of formation, the critical element of synchronized skating. All this is an effective preparation to a sporting career in Team Berlin 1.

The team has already had a few small appearances. At the opening of the Cup of Berlin 2006 they welcomed the international junior and senior teams with a dedicated flag routine. They have also performed at the annual Christmas shows, the 100th anniversary of Sportfreunde Neukölln and on the ice at Alexanderplatz and Potsdamer Platz. A highlight of the young skaters was Ice Fairy “Der gestiefelte Kater”. Ice enthusiastic young boys and girls can easily start training with the team, small beginners are welcome to join with Team Berlin Minis.

Figure skating provides a good learning experience and is a very rewarding sport. We guarantee conscientious and responsible care of the young ice skaters and design the training to be a lot of fun.
